Japan Bitcoin Industry, a startup in Japan's bitcoin industry, will issue new shares to 2 investors and raise approximately $5.1 million, with the entire payment made in bitcoin. Settlement is scheduled for 2 November, and the funds are expected to be used for aurora development, hiring and the routing business, among other purposes.
Tokyo-based Japan Bitcoin Industry disclosed plans to raise approximately ¥800,435,800 through the issuance of new shares to Fulgur Ventures' Japanese subsidiary in the United States and ANAP Holdings subsidiary ANAP Lightning Capital (ALC). The payment will be made entirely in bitcoin rather than cash, with settlement scheduled for 2 November. The amount paid by each investor has not been disclosed.
The funds raised are expected to be used for development of the Lightning payment product "aurora," as well as hiring, the routing business and research and development. Japan Bitcoin Industry was established in November 2024 and operates the online shopping service "UseBitcoin." It says it has operated Lightning payment infrastructure for 2 years. ALC aims to build a routing infrastructure in Japan.
ALC also affects the finances of the ANAP Holdings group as a whole. Its bitcoin valuation loss for the fiscal year ended August 2026 was reported to be ¥4.37 billion, while its net loss was ¥7.32 billion. ALC holds approximately 814 BTC, and the ANAP group as a whole is estimated by HashKey to hold approximately 1,417 BTC.
This fundraising is positioned as an effort to promote bitcoin payments in Japan as an alternative to card payments. It aims to promote small-value payments by leveraging the Lightning Network's low-cost, fast settlement characteristics.
