Hanshin has identified Tokyo Gas catcher Koshikawa Kaito (越川海翔) (24) as a draft candidate for his ability to throw out runners, rating his strong arm and accurate throws. Nihon Shinyaku catcher Sasahara Manato (笹原愛斗) (24) is also among the candidates.
Hanshin is considering selecting catcher Koshikawa Kaito (越川海翔), who is highly regarded as a catcher capable of throwing out runners, in the draft. Koshikawa has a strong arm, throwing to second base in around 1.8 seconds, and is known for accurate throws and strong catching skills. Team officials rate his overall defensive ability highly and view him as an interesting prospect who could develop further with experience.
The team is looking for a catcher with arm strength who can fill the void created by Umeno's reduced playing time, and says Koshikawa could fulfill that role. Koshikawa is also reported to have made significant progress as a hitter, including hitting the winning home run in the Intercity Baseball Tournament final. He is from Osaka, attended Koza High School in Wakayama and went on to Kansai University.
Another candidate is Nihon Shinyaku catcher Sasahara Manato (笹原愛斗). Sasahara is also 24 and is highly regarded for his defensive ability as a catcher, making him one option in Hanshin's draft strategy.
Local reports, including comments from general scouting director Hatayama, are expected to continue covering Hanshin's draft strategy and overall assessment, with attention focused on further developments.
