雨風太陽, which operates a direct-sales app, released an emergency survey on the unsettled weather since August. About 90% of respondents felt an impact on production sites, with the survey highlighting that take-home income had fallen by approximately 70%.
The survey was conducted online from 29 September to 4 October 2026, and received responses from 105 producers in 30 prefectures. Prolonged rain and insufficient sunlight were cited as the main impacts, with approximately 89.5% of respondents saying that they had been or were likely to be affected.
As for the effects, 76.6% reported lower quality, 70.2% lower yields, and 61.7% lower income due to poor crop growth. Prolonged rain was cited as a cause of the impact by 87% of respondents, while 68% cited insufficient sunlight.
The proportion of producers who said their take-home income had fallen despite higher market prices reached 68.9% (51 people), highlighting how lower shipment volumes and other factors prevented them from benefiting from the price surge. Many respondents also forecast declines of 20% to 50% compared with the same period a year earlier.
Regarding the disposal of non-standard products, 52.2% said they sold them as products with defects or outside standard specifications, while 45.6% disposed of them without selling or shipping them. A further 18.9% said they sold them themselves as processed products.
The company has published a special support page for affected producers and a sales page for products purchased in support of them. Its representative is calling for broader arrangements to address the gap between rising market prices and higher take-home income for producers.
