The inaugural FP&A Talent Forum, which focuses on the future of Japanese companies and enhancing corporate value, was held on 19 September, bringing together approximately 70 practitioners. The forum’s background, future activities and presentations were introduced, and registrations exceeded 120.
The forum was established against the backdrop of a shortage in Japan of FP&A professionals capable of creating businesses for the future. Its objectives are to develop professionals who can make numbers visible and engage in equal-footing discussions between CFOs and business division heads, and to build a network.
The event included an opening session, at which Deputy Committee Chair Kunimi Kensuke (国見 健介) discussed the need for FP&A at Japanese companies and the establishment of genuine decision-making support. Presentations and networking opportunities were held jointly with IMA’s Japan Chapter.
Ishibashi Zenichiro (石橋 善一郎) called for the long-term reallocation of capital and promotion of investment by Japanese companies, expressing his determination to transform financial practices in Japanese society through both the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s efforts to share best practices and the forum.
The forum outlined plans to hold regular in-person networking events, operate an official Slack workspace, launch specialist subcommittees and develop talent through an education and training subcommittee.
As part of its upcoming events, the forum will hold a special session at CFO LEADERS SUMMIT 2026. The second FP&A Talent Forum is scheduled for 24 November 2026, with former Recruit executive Miki Hisao (三木 久生) set to speak.
