Among individual stocks, BayCurrent posted a double-digit weekly gain, extending the reaction to its earnings report from the previous week. Lower long-term interest rates also prompted renewed buying in housing and real estate stocks, including Sumitomo Forestry and Mitsubishi Estate. Funds flowed back into stocks that had previously been affected by rising interest rates.
Meanwhile, semiconductor and wire stocks, among other AI-related names, featured prominently among the biggest decliners. SoftBank Group was dominated by selling amid reports that it was considering an acquisition of a US company and concerns about deterioration in its financial position.
