Hilton, a global hotel brand, has opened Hilton Takayama Resort in Takayama as a base for the Hokuriku and Chubu regions. In cooperation with the JR Central Group, it rebranded the former Hotel Associa Takayama Resort and relaunched it as a new tourism hub.
The opening ceremony was attended by the president of JR Central and representatives of Hilton's Japan, Korea and Micronesia region. The governor and deputy mayor also attended, and expectations were expressed that the resort would promote the region's attractions in Japan and overseas.
The building's design incorporates the traditional beauty of Hida-Takayama, including an exterior modeled on gassho-zukuri architecture and a lobby inspired by festival floats. Guest rooms use Hida furniture and feature décor incorporating elements of traditional crafts.
Guest facilities include a newly established executive lounge and a fitness centre available 24 hours a day. General Manager Kubo (久保) emphasised the resort's role in showcasing Takayama's appeal to the world.
