US President Trump emphasized that the construction of a semiconductor plant in New York State, as part of investment and financing in the United States related to US-Japan tariff negotiations, would “revitalize the US industrial base and create jobs.”
Trump explained in his own social media post that the investment would create a total of 27,000 jobs in construction and supply chain-related activities, as well as more than 1,000 jobs in highly skilled manufacturing.
The investment is positioned as part of the $550 billion (approximately ¥87 trillion) in investment and financing in the United States, and he argued that it would also help strengthen national security.
He claimed that investments from South Korea and Taiwan, as well as Japan, were being tied to major construction projects, touting their contribution to increased semiconductor production, energy security and job growth.
