On 6 August, ネクセンタイヤジャパン announced that it would begin the phased launch of its new passenger-car studless tire, “WINGUARD ice 3,” from September. The tire adopts a Nordic-type design suited to road conditions in the Japanese market.
The new product announced by ネクセンタイヤジャパン is the WINGUARD ice 3 passenger-car studless tire, with sales scheduled to begin in September. It will target the Japanese automotive market and be offered in sizes ranging from 15 to 20 inches. At this stage, the company plans to focus primarily on the 18-inch size. The previous WINGUARD ice2 will continue to be sold.
The development concept is “Conquer ice, snow and vehicle weight.” The tire adopts a newly developed Nordic compound to enhance grip on ice. Its wide-profile design helps distribute contact pressure evenly, improving braking performance on icy roads, while the overall design is intended to provide traction and stability on snowy and slushy roads. The tire has obtained the international Ice Grip certification for performance on ice.
The tread uses a V-shaped tread pattern, 3D sipes and a sawtooth block design. These features are intended to improve driving stability and traction in winter road conditions while delivering reassuring performance on dry and wet roads.
