Operating profit rose 28.6% to ¥6,170 million, ordinary profit increased 34.2% to ¥6,650 million, and net income attributable to owners of the parent grew 35.5% to ¥4,259 million. Rising raw-material prices and higher depreciation expenses reduced gross profit, while a lower selling, general and administrative expense ratio contributed to the improvement in the operating margin.
The overseas writing instruments business grew substantially, raising the overseas sales ratio to 59.1%. By region, growth was particularly strong in the United States, Asia and Europe. Ballpoint pens recorded the largest increase, driving growth in the domestic writing instruments and non-writing instruments businesses. The full-year forecast was revised upward to net sales of ¥95.5 billion, operating profit of ¥11.5 billion, ordinary profit of ¥12 billion and net income of ¥8 billion. The revision was primarily attributable to foreign exchange effects. As of the second quarter, progress stood at 50.0% for net sales, 53.7% for operating profit and 55.4% for ordinary profit. In terms of shareholder returns, the annual dividend was set at ¥57, and the company carried out a share buyback of approximately 4 million shares in 2026.
