Amid the peak earnings announcement season, a series of earnings releases and performance revisions published after the market close on 10 August drew market attention, with repeated upward revisions to record-profit forecasts and dividend increases. In particular, major pneumatic equipment manufacturer CKD and optical connector maker Seikoh Giken indicated that they expect to exceed their existing record-profit forecasts.
CKD raised its current fiscal-year ordinary profit forecast by 16% from the previous forecast, putting it on course to set a new record high, and announced plans to increase its annual dividend by ¥17. Seikoh Giken raised its ordinary profit forecast by 44%, lifting its record-high forecast, and will also increase its dividend by ¥6. In addition, Innotek, MEC, Yonex and Tokyo Keiki, among others, announced upward revisions to their ordinary profit forecasts and updated their record-profit outlooks.
Among the companies announcing substantial upward revisions were Minato Holdings, Cominix, Takeda iP Holdings, Meito Sangyo, ANEST IWATA, Fuji Copian and Duskin. In terms of quarterly progress, Rakuten Group achieved profitability in the first quarter, apparently helped by the narrowing of its first-half loss.
