HOYA will transfer MID Labs, its US subsidiary that manufactures ophthalmic surgical equipment, to Canada's Bausch + Lomb. The transfer date is 2 November 2026, the consideration is undisclosed, and all shares of MID Labs are scheduled to be transferred.
As part of a review of its overseas operations, HOYA decided to transfer MID Labs, its US subsidiary engaged in ophthalmic products, to Canada's Bausch + Lomb Corporation. Established in 1981, MID Labs' main products are vitreous surgery instruments used to prevent blindness caused by retinal disease and trauma.
According to its latest financial results, MID Labs recorded revenue of ¥5.37 billion and net income of ¥790 million for the fiscal year ended March 2026. HOYA will proceed with a group reorganisation by divesting this business.
The transferee is Bausch + Lomb Corporation (Ontario), a Canadian contact lens and ophthalmic equipment manufacturer. The transfer consideration has not been disclosed. The scheduled transfer date is 2 November 2026, when all shares of MID Labs will be transferred.
MID Labs will cease to operate as part of HOYA, and the transfer is positioned as part of the reorganisation of the ophthalmic equipment business as HOYA restructures its business portfolio.
