ARUM Inc. has launched the “Manufacturing AIX Avengers” project in collaboration with leading Japanese manufacturing companies, with the aim of achieving fully automated machining of large parts using a common platform and applying AI throughout the process during the period from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2030.
ARUM Inc. has launched the “Manufacturing AIX Avengers” consortium project in collaboration with Japanese manufacturers. The project will run from 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2030. Its objective is to promote the introduction and joint development of fully automated cutting machines equipped with domestically developed physical AI, while creating an ecosystem that enables manufacturing know-how to be learned across companies and industries.
The project will adopt TTMC Type-M and TTMC Type-L fully automated machining centers as its common platform, strengthening capabilities for 5-axis machining and large parts. TTMC Brain incorporates ARUMCAD, a 3D recognition engine, and aims to rapidly analyze three-dimensional shapes from STEP data and automatically generate process plans, NC programs and robot motions in an integrated workflow.
The targeted applications cover heavy machinery fields including automobiles, semiconductor manufacturing equipment, construction machinery, space and aviation, defense, machine tools and energy. The project plans to transfer the conventional work of skilled technicians to AI by automating process planning, tool selection, setup and robot-control programming. Approximately 20 companies are expected to participate, while the project expands participation by companies and research institutions to build a manufacturing AI ecosystem originating in Japan.
Participating companies are expected to include Kyocera, Kobe Steel, Nidec Machine Tool, Microsoft Japan and the Vietnamese subsidiary of the Sojitz Group. The project aims to advance TTMC Brain and expand the TTMC series globally, contributing to the advancement of Japan’s manufacturing capabilities.
