OpenAI announced plans to end its supply of models to Cursor. Following SpaceX's acquisition of Cursor, it proposed 12 November as the date for suspending supplies to the company.
OpenAI disclosed plans to stop supplying the AI models it had been providing to Cursor. It is considering 12 November as the suspension date and says that, under its terms of use, the provision concerning a change in control applies to the practical termination of the contract.
SpaceX announced in June that it would acquire Anysphere, which operates Cursor, through a share exchange, and completed the acquisition this month. Cursor, an AI coding agent acquired by SpaceX, will effectively come under SpaceX's control.
The dispute between OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and SpaceX founder Elon Musk has continued for years, and it has been suggested that the decision could further intensify their conflict. Meanwhile, Michael Truell, a Cursor co-founder and SpaceX executive, said he would continue discussions with OpenAI, while Anthropic disclosed plans to expand the computing capacity available to Cursor for Claude.
