OMRON has announced plans to acquire U.S. industrial PC manufacturer OnLogic for approximately ¥104.6 billion. The transaction is expected to close around January 2027, with the aim of creating a platform that uses the integration of PLCs and IPCs to enable AI to optimize manufacturing-site data in real time.
OMRON will acquire U.S. industrial PC manufacturer OnLogic. The acquisition is valued at US$675 million (approximately ¥104.6 billion) and is expected to be completed around January 2027.
OMRON plans to link its PLCs for equipment control with OnLogic’s data-analytics IPCs, enabling AI to analyze data obtained from manufacturing sites and optimize manufacturing processes even after they have begun.
The initiative demonstrates ambitions to expand the use of data not only in the factory automation (FA) field, but also in areas outside FA, such as data-center maintenance and monitoring.
The acquisition is intended to build a foundation for strengthening the North American market, and attention will focus on its implementation and expansion.
