On 7 October, the Safety Promotion Council of the Higashidori Nuclear Construction Office organised a cleanup of National Route 338. The activity is held annually, with participation by TEPCO employees and employees of partner companies.
A total of 34 TEPCO employees and 17 employees of partner companies took part. They divided up the area north of Tonttu Village, the PR facility at Higashidori Nuclear Power Station, and collected rubbish along an approximately 5-km stretch.
Because the road carries heavy traffic, the teams prioritised safety while communicating with one another during the work. They ultimately collected enough rubbish to fill the rear seats of the collection vehicle.
The participants indicated their intention to continue activities that contribute to the cleanliness of the local area, and concluded the work on site with renewed determination.
