IKKA-KY has decided to invest up to TWD 135 million to acquire a 20.85% stake in group company 毅金精密 at TWD 34.17 per share. The market is focusing on the move as an effort to secure the supply chain for key components ahead of potential participation in Japan's national humanoid robotics project.
IKKA-KY, a major automotive parts manufacturer under 能率集団, disclosed a board resolution to acquire a 20.85% stake in affiliated company 毅金精密 at TWD 34.17 per share. The total transaction value is capped at TWD 135 million, and the investment is positioned as part of efforts to integrate financial resources.
On the same day, IKKA-KY announced its results for the first half of 2026. Consolidated revenue was TWD 1.573 billion, profit after tax was TWD 30.633 million, and earnings per share were TWD 0.84. 毅金精密, the recipient of the investment, is a wholly owned subsidiary of 能率創新. It has a long track record of producing gearboxes for power tools and has also expanded into robot arms and powder metallurgy. IKKA-KY aims to build a comprehensive platform spanning metal gears, plastic gears, and robot assembly, and to extend its automotive parts manufacturing capabilities to robot joints, drive systems, and related reduction gears.
Technologically, the combination of IKKA-KY's plastic injection molding and gear technologies with 毅金精密's metal gear manufacturing and assembly technologies is expected to support applications in gears for low- to medium-load uses and auxiliary transmission mechanisms. The companies emphasize the complementarity of their technologies, with PBT-based components designed to meet the requirements of robotic applications.
