Nabtesco introduced efforts to strengthen supply chain resilience by involving suppliers and redefine BCP as “business continuity capability.” The presentation presented a new approach that prioritizes improving capability over plans.
Recognizing that manufacturing businesses are affected not only by disaster preparedness at their own factories but also by disruptions to the procurement of materials and components, Nabtesco is strengthening BCP across the entire supply chain, including suppliers. The presentation noted that stronger coordination covering procurement is essential to ensuring supply chain continuity. It set out the view that initiatives must be based on securing supplies of materials and components.
In redefining BCP around the idea that “capability,” rather than “plans,” is what matters, the company has adopted the slogan “From Plan to Power” and emphasized efforts to build the capability to respond to crises. Building the capability to ensure the continuity of the supply chain, rather than focusing solely on factory disaster preparedness, was deemed essential.
