Nippon Paint Holdings will launch the high-design coating material “Jikitone Shell Sand,” formulated with natural seashells, on 25 August. The product delivers a new exterior wall finish as an alternative to porcelain tiles.
Nippon Paint Holdings has announced “Jikitone Shell Sand,” a new high-design coating material for the construction sector formulated with natural seashells processed into a sand-like material. The product will be available from 25 August. Porcelain tile installation has traditionally been the mainstream approach, but coating materials have been sought as an alternative because of concerns over the risk of delamination and ongoing maintenance.
The product incorporates natural seashells processed into a sand-like material to create natural variation and a soft texture. Its appearance changes depending on how the light falls and the viewing angle, adding depth and a refined look to wall surfaces.
The standard range comprises 36 colors, and 9 finish patterns can be achieved by varying the application method. It can be applied over concrete, mortar, precast concrete components, ALC panels, and previously painted surfaces, among others, and is expected to be used for both new construction and renovation projects.
The product is supplied in 20 kg packs, comes in 36 colors, and has a matte finish. The Jikitone Shell Sand Undercoat is supplied in 16 kg packs, comes in 16 colors, and also has a matte finish.
