Nippon Yakin Kogyo President Urata Naruki (浦田成己) indicated a policy of pursuing entry into new fields and capturing overseas demand for advanced materials under the medium-term management plan for fiscal 2026, and disclosed his intention to promote the introduction of slab-type ESR.
Under the medium-term management plan launched this fiscal year, Nippon Yakin Kogyo has set out to pursue entry into new fields. One representative initiative is the introduction of a 14-ton slab-type ESR, which the company positions as a flagship project for developing new fields.
The company’s advanced materials are centered on flat products made from nickel alloys and high-performance stainless steel. While its strength lies in production efficiency using the same atmospheric-melting continuous-casting process as that used for general-purpose stainless steel, the company indicated that it intends to expand into difficult-to-produce steel and alloy fields.
The company is also focusing on capturing overseas demand and expects demand to expand particularly in markets such as India and the Middle East. It emphasized a policy of developing new fields and introducing technologies to address this demand.
Details such as the timing and scale of specific investments have not been disclosed, but through its medium-term plan the company intends to pursue technological innovation in new fields and capture overseas markets simultaneously.
