Naha City announced that it would conduct tsunami evacuation drills using LINE from the 5th, World Tsunami Awareness Day, onward. An in-person drill will be held on the 5th, followed by online drills from the 6th, and participants will receive Seven-Eleven Okinawa coupons.
At a press conference, Naha Mayor Chinen Satoru (知念 覚) announced that the tsunami evacuation drill “Dondon Tsunagaru Yuimaru Evacuation Drill” would be conducted through the official LINE account from the 5th through the 30th. An in-person drill will be held on the 5th at approximately 52 evacuation facilities, and registered participants are expected to receive notifications instructing them to evacuate during specified time periods.
From the 6th onward, the drills will be conducted online only, allowing participants to search for their nearest evacuation location. The online drill takes approximately 3 minutes to complete. スマサポ will operate the drills, while Seven-Eleven Okinawa will distribute coupons.
The coupons are free redemption vouchers for cup noodles that can be used at Seven-Eleven Okinawa. Donations to スマサポ and the Naha City Council of Social Welfare are planned based on the number of participants. The city council plans to use the donations to purchase disaster-prevention supplies and for other purposes.
Mayor Chinen Satoru (知念 覚) said, “Actions to protect yourself can become a force that supports someone else,” and called on many residents to participate.
