Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Machinery Systems has commercialized the world’s first system to control corrugated board warp using an AI prediction model. The system is applicable to corrugators and will be sold on a full-scale basis in Japan and overseas.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Machinery Systems has developed and commercialized a system that uses an AI prediction model to control warp caused by differences in moisture content between the front and back surfaces of corrugated board. The system is designed for the company’s corrugators and predicts the optimal machine settings for suppressing warp for each paper grade.
The system was commercialized by combining AI technology from the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Research & Innovation Center with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Machinery Systems’ corrugated board warp control technology. Full-scale sales in Japan and overseas are planned.
The news release highlights features including the prediction of optimal settings that prevent warp and support for high-mix, low-volume production, emphasizing the system’s commercial rollout.
