BROTHER INDUSTRIES,LTD., a major printer manufacturer, donated spot coolers used at venues for the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games and Asian Para Games to 457 public elementary and junior high schools and other facilities in Nagoya. As an official sponsor of the events, the company indicated that the donation was intended to help mitigate heat.
The donation went primarily to 457 public elementary and junior high schools in the city. The coolers can be used both indoors and outdoors. They are also expected to contribute to the operation of disaster shelters during normal times.
At Takashima Elementary School in Nagoya’s Tempaku Ward, a spot cooler was operating inside a tent at a sports day. A 5th-grade girl said she was pleased that it eased the heat and believed it would also help prevent heatstroke.
The donation as an event sponsor may be used not only for summer heat mitigation but also as part of disaster preparedness, and its future range of applications is attracting attention.
