Wakatsuki Takako (若月貴子), a serving female leader at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Japan, has been appointed president and representative director.
Wakatsuki said she decided to accept the position of president after receiving the advice, “The opportunity has come around to you, so take it and regret it later if you must.”
Regarding her leadership after taking office, she said it is important to inspire employees on the frontline and raise the motivation of the organisation as a whole, adding that she makes a point of listening carefully.
She also said she takes the position that “I listen to what people say, but I don’t simply stay close to the frontline,” emphasising the importance of seeing the underlying issues behind what frontline employees say.
