After holding a tasting event in Mongolia, YS Food, backed by Trailhead, will begin selling tonkotsu ramen at a local Japanese-style convenience store from 1 November and is also preparing for sales in Kazakhstan. The business alliance with Onono will form the foundation of the initiative.
Following a tasting event in Mongolia, Trailhead Global Holdings Co., Ltd. and YS Food Co., Ltd. decided to proceed with product sales in Mongolia and expand overseas distribution channels based on their business alliance with Onono Corporation and Onono Village. Sales are scheduled to begin on 1 November 2026 at the local company-operated convenience store “onono CURATED BY JAPAN,” while preparations for sales in Kazakhstan will proceed at the same time.
As part of local marketing in Mongolia, the “Gift from the Mountain Cabin: One Serving of Tonkotsu Ramen” tasting event held in Töv Province on 9 and 10 October 2026 provided 502 portions divided in half, totaling 1,004 servings, and received 294 survey responses. The company stated that respondents were tasting-event participants and were not selected through random sampling.
The main survey results included favorable comments on the soup’s flavor and potential demand on cold days and as a late-night meal. Respondents also requested less salt and a wider range of toppings and flavors, and the company said it would consider future product specifications and localization. Local sales are expected to use both company-operated and wholesale channels, with sales formats and pricing to be finalized.
