On 23 July, Asuene simultaneously announced ¥13.5 billion in funding and the acquisition of a European company for up to ¥6 billion, indicating that it would accelerate its global strategy even at the cost of postponing its IPO. With a BlackRock-affiliated fund participating as lead investor, the company aims to become an “AI Sustainability Integration Company” that combines AI and sustainability.
On 23 July, Asuene announced approximately ¥13.5 billion in funding led by a BlackRock-affiliated decarbonization fund. The company said this would bring its cumulative funding to ¥25 billion, and that the proceeds would not be used to secure working capital but to accelerate its global strategy targeting social impact on a ¥1 trillion scale and to build an M&A platform. Following lengthy negotiations alongside its CFO, the company clarified its growth strategy centered on AI and data utilization.
At the same time, Asuene announced that it would acquire European company 2degrees Ltd, which provides a supply-chain CO2 visualization platform, as a subsidiary for up to ¥6 billion. Although the acquisition took approximately 6 months from agreement on the LOI to closing, it is positioned as an essential step toward building a global supply-chain platform spanning Europe, the United States and Asia.
As a third pillar, the company indicated that it aims to become a “serial acquirer” pursuing continuous M&A. It seeks to become the world's leading company in its core business while strengthening core products such as AI energy management and supply-chain management. These initiatives are based on creating highly differentiated value using corporate data assets and promoting the long-term use of AI.
CEO Nishiwada Kohei (西和田 浩平) explained that the IPO had been postponed because it was not an objective in itself, and that the company was prioritizing long-term global growth and securing economic incentives for employees. Asuene aims to become the world's leading company in the decarbonization and energy sectors and plans to create new businesses linked to its data assets while redesigning its operations for global markets.
