The Nikkei Average was down ¥484 as of 13:00, with the weak trend continuing. Meanwhile, South Korea's KOSPI is higher, spreading a degree of reassurance across the Tokyo market.
In the Japanese equity market, the Nikkei Average was down ¥484 as of 13:50, maintaining its recent decline. The biggest negative contributors included SoftBank Group, Fast Retailing and Tokyo Electron, leading the overall market lower.
Meanwhile, the biggest positive contributors included Recruit Holdings, BayCurrent Holdings and Kioxia Holdings, helping to limit the decline. By sector, nonferrous metals, electric appliances, rubber products, information and communications, and securities and commodity futures were lower, while mining, oil and coal products, marine transportation, services, and electric power and gas were higher.
Market sentiment saw the Nikkei Average gradually hold up, as the firmness at lower levels after the market opened and the rebound in South Korea's KOSPI, which had fallen in the morning, appear to have provided a degree of reassurance to the Tokyo market.
