The construction-field Specified Skilled Worker (ii) examination-preparation course has been extensively revamped, with 133 original videos added and subtitles made available in 5 languages: English, Indonesian, Tagalog, Vietnamese and Myanmar. The videos can also be studied on smartphones, allowing learners to use spare time, such as time spent travelling.
The background to the revamp includes the broad scope of the Specified Skilled Worker (ii) examination, which tests not only advanced Japanese reading comprehension but also on-site management as a foreman and knowledge of machinery and construction methods. The course provider said that establishing an instructional system to support students' continued study had been a challenge.
The new coaching plan combines video-based learning with regular coaching by Japanese-language instructors once a week or once every two weeks. It is designed to prevent students from giving up by checking their level of understanding and resolving questions. In addition, free accounts for the Japanese e-learning service Japany are provided, making more than 1,400 pieces of content, including JLPT preparation videos, available on smartphones.
The lineup comprises 3 options: a full construction-field Specified Skilled Worker (ii) plan, a plan covering only the foreman curriculum and a coaching plan. Details of the courses and sample video footage have been published on a newly established landing page, which also provides a contact channel.
