Rumors have emerged of a price revision for the iPhone 17, with prices for some models already raised in Japan. The next move is reportedly a price-list revision around 10 August next week, but there has been no official announcement.
Weibo leaker “Fixed Focus Digital” posted that the iPhone 17 would receive a price increase on 10 August next week, and the information is circulating while the models affected and the size of the increase remain unconfirmed. The post cites no specific source and is circulating only as a rumor.
The increase in component costs has been cited as the reason, and the same leaker reported in July that some iPhone 17 production lines were scheduled to be halted. Rising costs for components such as memory have been identified as a potential factor behind future price revisions.
In Japan, domestic iPhone prices were revised without prior notice on 18 July. The iPhone 17 (256GB) rose from ¥129,800 to ¥142,800, the iPhone 17e from ¥99,800 to ¥107,800, the iPhone Air from ¥159,800 to ¥177,800, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max from ¥194,800 to ¥214,800. Carriers have also revised their prices since the same date.
At present, the only certain detail is that 10 August has been cited as the date. Apple has made no official announcement, and it is not known whether Japan would be affected or which storage capacities would be included. The report should be viewed as indicating only that a price-list revision may occur.
