日精蝋 raised its consolidated earnings forecast for the fiscal year ending December 2026 after trading ended last Friday, attracting buying interest and sending its share price to the ¥80 limit-up at ¥326.
Under the new forecast, net sales were raised from ¥21.1 billion to ¥21.9 billion, up 10.7% year on year, while operating profit was raised from ¥1.8 billion to ¥3.1 billion, 2.6 times the previous year. The company said the increase reflected the introduction of a surcharge system and higher selling prices in response to soaring raw material costs amid heightened tensions in the Middle East.
The company said the increase in net sales above also reflected efforts to limit the impact of soaring raw material costs on the cost of sales, as well as wider profit margins resulting from higher inventory unit prices. In the second-quarter results, net sales were ¥9.954 billion and operating profit was ¥1.723 billion, representing year-on-year increases of 5.9% and 3.3 times, respectively.
