Tokai Carbon raised its operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending December 2026 to ¥35 billion and its full-year dividend forecast to ¥40 per share. Centered on carbon materials for tires, steel and semiconductors, the company says it aims to achieve both a recovery in demand and improved profitability.
Tokai Carbon disclosed in a timely disclosure that it had raised its operating profit forecast for the fiscal year ending December 2026 from ¥28 billion to ¥35 billion. At the same time, it indicated that it planned to increase its full-year dividend forecast from ¥30 to ¥40 per share. The dividend forecast remains unchanged from the announcement on 13 May and was maintained at the earnings announcement. These developments indicate that a recovery in earnings growth and a review of capital policy are proceeding at the same time.
The company’s strength lies in combining its supply platform for tires with high-performance materials used in semiconductors and other applications, supporting production stability at customers’ plants. Attention is also needed not only on sources of earnings expected during market upcycles, but on risk factors such as the restructuring of unprofitable sites, passing on higher raw material costs and an uneven product mix.
In assessing future growth potential, the key questions will be where the sources of earnings growth are coming from and how much of the funds generated through capital investment and cash flow remains as cash. Investors will need to check the drivers of earnings growth by business, operating cash flow and the funding sources for shareholder returns at each earnings announcement.
