Google AI Mode has launched a restaurant availability search function in Japan. Users can provide the number of people, date and time, location and cuisine, and the service searches across multiple reservation sites and displays available seats in a list.
Google announced on 6 November 2026 that it had launched a restaurant availability search function using AI Mode in Japan. The function will become available in stages over the following weeks and will be provided in Japan in partnership with Gurunavi, Ikkyu.com and ebica.
Users can provide conditions such as the number of people, date and time, location and type of cuisine at once. AI Mode then checks availability in real time across multiple reservation sites and displays restaurants that can be booked in a list. The system reduces the need to re-enter information separately on each site.
To confirm a reservation, users select a restaurant from the list, open the link to the restaurant’s reservation page and complete the booking themselves. The main reservation services integrated in Japan are Gurunavi, Ikkyu.com Restaurant and ebica, all of which serve as partners.
AI Mode was launched in the US in August 2025, initially as a paid plan, and subsequently expanded to the UK, India and other markets. The service was enabled in Japan with this announcement; additional information, including pricing, has not been determined.
