The Tokyo stock market briefly fell below 65,000 in morning trading, with a decline in U.S. stocks from the previous day and higher oil prices weighing on the market and sending a broad range of shares lower.
The Nikkei 225 continued to decline in morning trading on the 10th, with its loss briefly exceeding ¥900. It closed the morning session at ¥64,597.46, down ¥545.32 from the previous day.
The Tokyo Stock Price Index (TOPIX) stood at 4,032.89, down 13.75 points from the previous day, as declines in U.S. stocks and rising crude oil futures prices weighed on the market.
All major stock indexes fell in the U.S. market. Market participants widely viewed the escalation of fighting between the United States and Iran, rising oil prices and higher U.S. long-term interest rates amid inflation concerns as factors that prompted selling of equities.
