The Japan CTO Association has released "AX Criteria," a self-assessment framework for visualizing AI transformation. Designed to assess an organization's current state across five perspectives and 50 items, it evaluates management strategy, talent, technology infrastructure and other areas on the premise of collaboration with AI agents.
On 5 October, the Japan CTO Association publicly released "AX Criteria," a self-assessment framework for visualizing the current state of companies' AI transformation. AX is based on collaboration with AI agents and is positioned as a tool for promoting transformation across the organization.
The assessment is structured around five perspectives: "Strategy (management strategy)," "Staff (talent)," "System (technology infrastructure)," "Symbiosis (collaboration between people and AI)" and "Security (governance)." Each perspective has five subthemes, and each subtheme has two criteria, for a total of 50 items evaluated on a five-point scale from 0 to 4.
A score of 0 indicates no initiatives, while 4 indicates that the relevant state has become established as a system or part of the culture. AX Criteria is intended to serve as a common yardstick for visualizing differences in understanding between management and operational teams, and as a tool for discussing specific areas for improvement in business operations.
An early trial was conducted before the public release. The items and explanations were improved to reflect the feedback received, and further updates are planned based on user feedback.
