At SoftBank CUP 2026 (Tokyo) at Ariake Arena, the father from the Shirato family raced around the venue from before the game through its conclusion, energising the event by interacting with visitors and children.
On the day SoftBank CUP 2026, specially sponsored by SoftBank, was held at Ariake Arena, the venue was packed with fans wearing Japan national team uniforms and carrying cheering goods, creating a lively atmosphere. From the morning, the father from the Shirato family made his way around the venue, first welcoming visitors at the “My Oshi Trading Card” booth, helping them take photos for digital trading cards featuring the players, and interacting with visitors as they moved around taking pictures.
In one of the event’s main highlights, the players of AKATSUKI JAPAN were greeted with high-fives at the entrance when they arrived. The father from the Shirato family stood at the end of the line of children waiting to high-five the players, together with the children, and helped put them at ease as they waited for their turn. Before tip-off, SoftBank CUP banners and large video screens stood out across the venue, and visitors received limited-edition hand clappers.
Japan took the lead from the opening minutes and held off South Korea’s second-half comeback to win 95-66. During halftime, the “Flying Father” appeared in a flying performance, prompting the crowd to wave and cheer. After the game, he saw the players off at the exit and offered them encouragement. With the entire venue filled with excitement, the father from the Shirato family spent the day playing a central role in keeping the atmosphere lively.
