Byside, which is growing by specializing in M&A buyers, has built a network of more than 600 buyers since its founding in 2022 and aims to expand into a comprehensive consulting business, including support for overseas expansion, with a listing in view.
Byside株式会社, which specializes in finding buyers in the M&A industry, has developed a proprietary model focused on finding and supporting buyers rather than seeking sellers since its founding. It has adopted a collaboration model, and the number of M&A businesses partnering with it as associates has now reached 600. By maintaining broad access to potential buyers, it has established a system that enables rapid matching according to deal size and industry.
The company's track record includes cases involving middle-market deals worth several hundred million yen to approximately ¥1 billion, where deals that take other companies more than a year were matched and closed in about a week after consultation with Byside. Another strength is its network, which aims to make proposals to more than 1,000 potential buyers for each deal. Founder Kawabata (川畑) emphasizes the pursuit of benefits for all three parties, buyers, sellers and partners, viewing his personality traits from childhood as an organizational strength.
While positioning an IPO as a short-term goal, the company aims to gain world-class credibility through transactions with overseas companies and large corporations, and envisions building a platform to promote the overseas expansion of Japanese companies. In the future, it aims to become a comprehensive consulting firm providing integrated support for integration processes, branding and organizational integration, with the goal of contributing to innovation across the industry and the revitalization of the Japanese economy.
In this interview, Kawabata (川畑) discussed the challenges facing the M&A industry, his company's solutions, its organizational development policy and its future growth strategy. A distinctive feature is its presentation of a new growth model centered on its buyer network, rather than viewing a listing merely as a milestone.
