IG Port rebounded sharply in the Tokyo market on 16 October after reporting substantial first-quarter profit growth. By contrast, TOHO's full-year forecast was raised only to reflect an upward revision to net profit, and its shares fell.
AI-related stocks led the rebound in the Tokyo market on the 16th, with IG Port rebounding sharply. The move appears to have been driven by the early conclusion of negotiations to increase the production budget for the second half of the year, as reported in its August first-quarter results.
Among earnings-related stocks, SHIFT hit its daily price limit, while Edia also rebounded sharply. Sanrio also rebounded after Mizuho Securities maintained its investment rating of “Buy” and raised its price target.
MIXI, GREE Holdings, Capcom and Bandai Namco Holdings were among those hitting new year-to-date highs. TOHO, meanwhile, appears to have come under selling pressure after its full-year forecast revision, announced alongside its second-quarter results, was limited to an upward revision to net profit resulting from the recognition of a gain on a sale.
Elsewhere, Silicon Studio fell sharply for the first time in 4 days, while Tenda and Kayac also remained weak.
