R2GPEOPLE JAPAN announced that its smartphone-mounted AI rangefinder, “MATE X,” will go on sale from 11 September 2026. Its key new feature is the integration of laser distance measurement, GPS navigation and score management in a single app.
The “MATE X” is a new-style rangefinder that attaches magnetically to the back of a smartphone. Measuring 60.5×60.5×23.2 mm and weighing approximately 63 g, it enables a smartphone to be used as a multifunctional rangefinder. Its AI measurement feature uses deep-learning-trained AI to recognize pins and automatically begin measurement.
Through integration with the dedicated R2G app, users can access laser distance measurement, GPS navigation, scorecards and round analysis in a single app. The device reduces the need to operate buttons for distance measurement, allowing users to measure distances and check information on their smartphone screen.
The manufacturer's suggested retail price is ¥38,500 (including tax). The product will be sold through golf specialty stores nationwide and the company's own e-commerce site, with product information available on the official website.
