At its production site in Vietnam, BROTHER INDUSTRIES,LTD. began producing molded pulp in July using corrugated cardboard generated at the plant as a raw material. The molded pulp is used as cushioning material for printers and, since the end of August, has been used to protect toner cartridges.
The site has established a system to recycle corrugated cardboard used to deliver components, creating a circular flow of resources. The company said this contributes to effective resource use and waste reduction.
The Brother Group has set out its Environmental Vision 2050, which aims to maximise resource circulation and minimise the environmental burden of waste. It has set a target of reducing new resource inputs for its Printing and Solutions business by 25% from fiscal 2022 levels by fiscal 20230.
The company received high evaluations for its molded-pulp cushioning material, winning the Technical Packaging Award at the 2024 Japan Packaging Contest and the WorldStar Award at WorldStar 2025.
