The Foundation for Broadcast Culture's extraordinary board held public interviews and a vote, designating Director Lee Seong-ju (イ・ソンジュ) as the candidate for the next president from among the 2 finalists. Lee Seong-ju (イ・ソンジュ) and Jeong Dong-geon (チョン・ドンゴン), the former president of Ulsan MBC, attended the final interview.
Under the amended Broadcasting Act, a special majority of at least three-fifths of the directors was required to designate the candidate for the next president. After joining MBC as a reporter in 1995, the designated candidate Lee Seong-ju (イ・ソンジュ) held several leadership positions and has served as an executive director of iMBC since 2024.
As the platform for the new presidency, Lee pledged to restore scheduled broadcasts by the news desk, strengthen a production management system centered on executive producers, reorganize the organization by function and integrate departments, and manage the company with a focus on overcoming the crisis and on frontline staff and people.
The presidential selection was reported as the first case decided through a public recommendation committee, and formal election is scheduled for the shareholders' meeting at 11 a.m. on the 14th. The term will be 3 years.
