An email account at Toyobo textile, a member of the TOYOBO CO.,LTD. Group, was accessed without authorisation, and approximately 1,500 suspicious emails were sent to internal and external recipients. The emails contained PDF attachments that prompted recipients to enter their authentication credentials when opened.
At around 11:00 a.m. on 24 September, an email account used by an employee of Toyobo textile was accessed without authorisation by a third party. TOYOBO CO.,LTD. confirmed the incident at around 1:00 p.m. that day and proceeded with measures including changing the password for the affected account.
As a result of the unauthorised access, approximately 1,500 suspicious emails were sent from the account to internal and external parties connected with the group. The emails contained PDF files that directed recipients to an external website and prompted them to enter their authentication credentials when opened.
