TOENEC, a major electrical contractor, has begun a demonstration project in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture, to operate thin, lightweight perovskite solar cells on a building rooftop. Approximately 1 kW of capacity will be installed to verify power generation performance and operating methods against conventional models.
TOENEC, an electrical contractor, has installed approximately 1 kW of Aisin-made perovskite solar cells on the rooftop of the indoor play area at Kuragaike Park in Toyota, Aichi Prefecture. The cells will be connected to conventional solar cells to demonstrate power generation performance and operating methods. Toyota City, Chubu Electric Power and Chubu Electric Power Miraiz are collaborating on the project.
The demonstration project will continue through FY2028, with the company studying installation methods based on deployment on building exterior walls, roofs and other locations, taking advantage of the characteristics of thin, lightweight perovskite cells. It aims to prepare for future expansion by accumulating expertise in installation and maintenance.
Toyota City, Chubu Electric Power and Chubu Electric Power Miraiz are cooperating on the demonstration project. Through this operating example under the conditions of an indoor play area's rooftop, the participants will explore the potential for application to other buildings.
