Against the backdrop of moves in the US market, selling prevailed in Japan, particularly in AI-related and semiconductor stocks. The decline did not spread across the market, however. As semiconductor stocks rebounded, SCREEN Holdings and Tokyo Electron turned higher, while Advantest narrowed its decline.

Trading volume on the TSE Prime Market was approximately 1.08899 billion shares, and trading value was approximately ¥4.0647 trillion. There were 1,220 advancers, 303 decliners and 28 unchanged issues, indicating a generally soft market despite the predominance of advancing stocks.
