As earnings announcements for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027 are set to gather pace from next week, the first instalment of a feature on stocks expected to grow has been published. The stocks were selected based on strong first-quarter results, high progress against full-year forecasts and low PBR. The list includes stocks with high expectations for upward revisions.
Earnings announcements for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 2027 (April–September) will gather pace from the 27th next week. This feature selects stocks with strong first-quarter results, high progress against full-year plans and expectations for upward revisions, focusing on those that appear particularly undervalued based on stock valuation metrics, and ranks them by progress against full-year plans.
The coverage comprises 40 stocks with market capitalisations of ¥50 billion or more that meet criteria including higher ordinary profit in the April–June quarter than in the same period of the previous year, first-quarter progress of 30% or more, and progress more than 10 percentage points above the five-year average. A star indicates a stock that received an upward revision to its full-year plan before or at the time of announcing its first-half results for the previous fiscal year.
Stocks highlighted include 北日本銀行, 西日本鉄道, 三重交通グループホールディングス, 日本触媒 and 古河機械金属, which are introduced as companies that have made upward revisions over the past several years. 科研製薬, コスモHD, Honda and ENEOS are also viewed as highly likely to outperform their earnings forecasts. The table lists forecasts for ordinary profit and progress for the April–June quarter, as well as PBR.
