A new locally themed electronic money card, the Hamamatsu Health and Well-Being WAON, has been launched to support health promotion in Hamamatsu City, with a system under which part of the amount spent will be donated to a city project. Mayor Nakano attended the unveiling ceremony.
Hamamatsu City announced that it would introduce the new locally themed electronic money card, Hamamatsu Health and Well-Being WAON, to support health promotion. Maxvalu Tokai was identified as the issuer, and a system will be established to direct funds to city projects related to health promotion through everyday shopping.
The WAON uses a system under which part of the amount spent is donated to the health promotion initiatives being advanced by the city, with the donated funds expected to be allocated to city projects.
Mayor Nakano attended the unveiling ceremony, where the new card was promoted. Attention is expected to focus on its future adoption and operating structure.
