Tamron announced that it will launch the 20-40mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A062), a large-aperture standard zoom lens for the Nikon Z mount, on Thursday, 22 October. The listed price is ¥119,900.
The lens is compatible with 35mm full-frame cameras, starts at 20mm, and has a minimum focusing distance of 0.17m, while the telephoto end has a minimum focusing distance of 0.29m. It can also be used for wide-angle macro-style photography that includes a large area of the background, and is described as the smallest and lightest design in its class of F2.8 zoom lenses.
AF uses the VXD linear motor focusing mechanism, enabling fast, precise focusing for both still images and video. The lens is compatible with the dedicated TAMRON Lens Utility software, features a basic moisture-resistant construction, and has a fluorine coating on the front element.
The Sony E-mount version of the 20-40mm F/2.8 Di III VXD in the same series was launched in 2022, and the Nikon Z-mount version has now been added.
