Space Tech Accelerator has been selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ investment feasibility study project and will examine the feasibility of building a shared platform to support sustainable sourcing of agricultural products, particularly palm oil, a common challenge for Japanese companies.
Space Tech Accelerator Co., Ltd. has been selected for the FY2026 Investment Feasibility Study for Building Stable Supply Chains for Food and Production Materials. In collaboration with the public and private sectors, it will examine the feasibility of building an information platform that can be used by both, with a focus on organizing common challenges related to the sustainable sourcing of agricultural products, including palm oil.
The project will use satellite data and information from producing regions to explore the feasibility of building a system that streamlines research and monitoring previously conducted separately by individual companies. The initial focus will be palm oil, with potential future expansion into cocoa, coffee and natural rubber also to be considered.
The study will focus on 1) identifying the procurement challenges faced by Japanese companies, 2) assessing the potential use of existing data, satellite technology and information from producing regions, and 3) examining business and operating models, including collaboration with producing countries. It will investigate the potential for collaboration with producing countries such as Indonesia and Malaysia.
STA aims to build a platform on which information and functions can be shared as non-competitive areas, thereby reducing Japanese companies’ procurement costs and response burdens while contributing to sustainable production in producing countries.
