Following a 5-year breeding program at Bokka no Sato, 2 baby alpacas were born one after another. Jerry, the first offspring, was born on 28 September, followed by the second on 28 October. They inherited genes from their mother Catherine and their fathers Remy and Tom, respectively.
Bokka no Sato began keeping adult alpacas in 2015 and started breeding around 2020. After approximately 5 years of overcoming challenges including environmental adaptation and timing, the facility welcomed its first baby alpacas.
The baby born on 28 September weighed approximately 5.6 kg, stood up on her own and began walking. She was a female born to Catherine, a white female alpaca, and was named Jerry. Jerry's older brother is Tom, also born to Catherine.
A black-coated female was born on 28 October. The father was Tom, a brown alpaca and Jerry's older brother, and the mother was Catherine. The new niece, Jessica, is growing while nursing.
Bokka no Sato plans to continue caring for the mother and offspring with their health as the top priority, including allowing them to graze, and to monitor the growth of the 2 alpacas as the natural environment transitions from autumn to winter.
