Real estate-related concerns were the most common among the 356 groups that attended inheritance consultations, at approximately 62%. A free inheritance and gift consultation session will be held in Fujieda City on 24 and 25 October, with HouseFreedom Co.,Ltd. responsible for the real estate-related consultations.
Based on records from the past 20 inheritance consultation sessions, the consultations of 356 groups were categorized by theme. Real estate-related consultations accounted for approximately 62%, exceeding half and making them the most common consultation theme. These consultations included issues involving family homes, land, condominiums and vacant houses, with many cases involving complex relationships between inheritance procedures and real estate. Inheritance matters involve multiple areas, including estate division and inheritance generally, registration and changes to registered ownership, inheritance and gift taxes, wills and lifetime gifts. Because the analysis is based on records from the past 20 sessions and a single group’s consultation may cover multiple themes, the percentages add up to more than 100%.
By age group, people in their 50s to 70s accounted for 80.7% of the 296 valid responses from the 356 participating groups. Those in their 60s formed the largest group, accounting for 31.1% of the total, or 92 cases. Consultations covered not only matters arising after procedures begin, but also forward-looking issues such as planning during one’s lifetime and how to pass on assets.
The consultation session will include specialists such as tax accountants, judicial scriveners, attorneys, administrative scriveners, real estate transaction specialists and financial planners. They will organize and address inheritance and gift-related concerns through individual one-hour consultations for each group. In light of the complexity of inheritance matters, the format allows specialists from multiple fields to support consultations from their respective perspectives.
