Resonac and ZenmuTech jointly built a materials informatics (MI) platform that enables the use of intercompany data without disclosing confidential data. A demonstration using data from Chemical Manufacturer A confirmed improved prediction accuracy.
Resonac Holdings collaborated with ZenmuTech to build a materials informatics (MI) platform for materials development using the secure-computation library QueryAhead. The companies established an environment in which materials development data can be combined and analyzed across companies without disclosing confidential data, and are conducting demonstrations with supplier cooperation.
The demonstration focused on semiconductor materials development. Data held by Chemical Manufacturer A was combined and analyzed with Resonac’s formulation conditions and evaluation data without disclosing either party’s data. The results confirmed that prediction errors for properties such as liquidity decreased by approximately 78% compared with using each company’s data alone. Principal component analysis and linear regression were conducted in a secure-computation environment, which also demonstrated reproducibility in a conventional environment.
The technical focus was secure computation based on secret sharing. It was reported that the technology had been standardized internationally as ISO/IEC 4922-2 and that social implementation was advancing as a research and development theme under SIP. The initiative is also described as contributing to the exploration of a new collaboration model that balances confidentiality protection with data utilization.
Going forward, the companies plan to establish operational rules covering the scope of data disclosure and the parties to which data may be disclosed, and to expand the scope of the demonstrations. They aim to use intercompany data collaboration through secure computation to advance materials development and drive innovation.
