On 15 September, ヒューテックノオリン announced that, through a four-company collaboration with 博多運輸, JR Freight and 全国通運, it would promote a modal shift to rail for frozen-food transport using 31-foot refrigerated containers. The company will handle pickup and transport between Kanto and Kyushu, while 博多運輸 will handle pickup and transport between Kyushu and Kanto.
ヒューテックノオリン announced that it would expand an initiative conducted jointly with 博多運輸, JR Freight and 全国通運 to transport temperature-controlled goods, primarily frozen foods, by rail. As part of the initiative, additional 31-foot refrigerated containers have been deployed, and wrapped containers are scheduled to be used for transport.
ヒューテックノオリン will handle pickup and transport from Kanto to Kyushu, while 博多運輸 will handle pickup and transport from Kyushu to Kanto. JR Freight will conduct the rail transport, and 全国通運 will procure the containers.
The modal shift to rail is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 120 tonnes compared with truck transport and shorten drivers’ operating time by approximately 13 hours per trip. This is expected to reduce the environmental impact and secure transport capacity.
Since 2024, ヒューテックノオリン and 博多運輸 have jointly conducted round-trip transport using refrigerated rail containers. Against a backdrop of growing logistics demand, they are strengthening the system by deploying additional 31-foot refrigerated containers.
